"What do 'I do when my kid does _______?" You go to Baker's Website:)

OK, OK, I know I have been a stranger AGAIN to the blog world but I am asking you to support Baker's new Website! I am SO proud and excited to tell you about www.behaviorbandaid.com
It is a really great resource for parents, teachers, and really anyone who is has kids or works with kids and has those "what do I do RIGHT NOW" moments (that lets admit, we all have!!) It gives you great metaphors, scenarios, and tips about day to day things in the world of kids and parenting. What's cool, is you get professional AND practical advice. It's kind of a blog-style site and he just launched it, so it's a work in progress. For those of you who blog, we would be GREATLY appreciative if you listed it on your blog if in fact it's a site you like. You can write to him your questions and feedback as well on the site. Thanks so much for checking it out. He is really excited about it and I am so proud of him for doing this!! Baker is an amazing Behavioral Psychologist, and even more so, an amazing dad so I can promise this is good!!! I think moms and dads will really enjoy it!!! Thanks so much everyone!!!! Love, D

Fall Fun. It really is the simple things that mean the most!

Today has been a GREAT day with my family! Owen woke as excited as always about the fact that it was a "school day...YEAH!" Baker and I dressed him in his super cool fisherman costume (Thank you Mimi) and I dressed Liza Baker in a cute halloween outfit including a blue jean skirt and black tights and of course a Halloween bow (Thank you Aunt Li) . At Owen's school the kids were so cute in all of their costumes!!! We watched their parade and Hay Ride which was just adorable!! Baker, Liza Baker and I were able to sneak away to get some coffee for an hour (and strained pears and oatmeal). Then we picked Owen up and took the kiddos to the pumpkin patch and they had so much fun! Liza Baker fit right in and Owen of course just kept adding pumpkins to the wagon. After that we headed to Momo's to sit outside and eat yummy pizza!! Simple things like a trailor of hay, silly looking pumpkins, kids marching in a circle and cheese pizza REALLY matter and make for a perfect morning!

Thirty-One

After lots of thought and prayer, I have decided to share my life, time, and home and sell Thirty-One. I wanted something fun to do from home on the side and was SOLD after my first expereince with the product and come on, who DOESN'T love personalized gifts!!! Thirty-One comes from Proverbs 31 where is a described a "Virtous Woman" The Proverbs 31 woman was a wife, a mother, a friend, a worker, a homemaker...like many I know. I feel I have so much to learn from both the Thirty-One company and from the Proverb! The products are amazing and they are not only ADORABLE but AFFORDABLE but very practical and useful! I am GRATEFUL to my friends and family who I know will "Celebrate, Encourage and Reward" this endeavor! Happy Shopping!!!!
Please look at my website link and tell me what you think. I welcome input!!! Let me know if you are interested in booking a party...hostess rewards are VERY rewarding!!

Just not good at this but I PROMISE to try!

I am really not good at blogging! I say I "don't have time" but I guess it doesn't take long and it IS a good way at keeping up to speed on each others lives (for those who are not obsessed with using Facebook like I admit I am). CONFESSION-I was going back and adding things to Owen's baby book and I had to come back to my blog page because that's were I recorded it all!! Since I last wrote we have been to wonderful places, lost a loved on (Baker's Step Father, George) traveled some, celebrated in Liza Baker's Baptism, started a good football season, friends birthday parties, and more than I could explain! I will put some photos up from the past few months then just start from where we are today...happy and home:)

All Good!

Thanks for all your prayers for Liza Baker. We met with the pediatric urologist from Jacksonville yesterday and he feels confident that her condition, VUR, is one that she will grow out of over time. We will have her checked each year and keep her medication to prevent infection but he was so kind and so sweet with her and said he wouldn't be surprised if it is gone by the time she is 18mths old. She has her 4mth well baby check friday but yesterday she weighed 15lbs 6oz! Whew! Gran (my mom) will be here today to stay for a week and help take care of all of us. I go tomorrow to have lithotrypsy to get rid of (hopefully) kidney stones and check everything out on my end. Wish me luck!!

Cupcakes and Cereal

Here are a few pics from the last couple of days! Owen and mommy made cupcakes and he is so serious about it! He concentrates so hard on mixing and getting the batter into the cupcake pan...so cute!! Also, Liza Baker has decided that she is ready for cereal now:) We tried it just to see what would happen...making sure she knew what do with it. Shouldn't surprise anyone that she ate the ENTIRE bowl of rice cereal on the first try!!

TGIF...I think??

Before I vent about all the not-so-good things that have been going on, I must say that I do know GOD is good and he is ever present in our lives! I am blessed beyond explanation with such a great husband (who has gone above and beyond this week) and my beautiful kids and such a wonderful family and our friends that are family!

Well I guess it all kinda started when Liza Baker got a bladder infection (I wrote about that earlier) and then Owen got Pink eye and I had been feeling kind of cruddy. Well my crud turned into a bad sinus infection and bronchitis - YUK!! That, of course is easily remedied with good strong antibiotics (which will probably make me kind of crazy for 10 days but whatever...bring it on). My biggest prayer request if for my baby girl. Today we took Liza Baker in to have further testing to follow up with her bladder infection (babies typically shouldn't get those.) We learned that she has renal reflux (where due to some valve/ureter malformation, her urine goes back up into her kidneys....that's a no-no. So we will have to follow up with a pediatric urologist to decide the best way to treat it. She was so brave during the procedures!! Please pray that her doctors will guide us down the right, best path of treatment for our little gal. We found this early so with treatment she is going to be just fine.

We are attending a memorial service for a friend tomorrow. Our dear friend Mike tragically lost his sister. Mike and Lucy Clay have been such good friends to us so we only hope that we can offer them enough support through this rough time.

Hoping that the weekend will bring us lots of sunshine and positive things!! Lord knows, I need a reprieve!

Guess it's my turn...

Well Liza Baker got a bladder infection, then Owen got pink eye, so I guess it's my turn to get something. I felt pretty yucky today...sinus headache and cough and head congestion. So for Owen and LB that means "Movie Day" (did I mention it was pouring rain outside all day as well??) Here are my babies playing on the floor watching Elmo in Grouchland....a classic:) We will all get a good night's sleep because it's play date at our house tomorrow with Asher and Jack. Owen is SO excited that his pals are coming over!!!

Another Rainy Day = ZOINKS

After the week we have had, this mommy couldn't take another day inside with the rain and poor Owen needed some exercise so off to Zoinks we went! (Note this was on Friday July 2nd, not today...just posting today)

Say a prayer for my sunshine

My little sunshine is getting over a bladder infection (as if pink eye wasn't enough). Last week we took her in because we noticed some symptoms and high fevers. My brave girl had to have a catheter and injections ....it was rough! However after getting some good antibiotics in her system she is much better. Please keep her in your prayers as she as to go Thursday for some ultrasounds and other tests to make sure all of her urinary "plumbing" is where is should be since she is so little....or young rather. Speaking of which. When we went to the doc last at 13weeks she was 13.2 lbs and 23 in. Still 50% for length and Yes 80%til for weight. I love my plump princess! By the looks of this pic, she is healthy to me!!

Pink Eye Yuk

This is my precious Owen after we got done at he doctor. He had pink eye in his left eye. When he woke that morning it was swollen shut and the first thing of his mouth was "Eye hurts Mommy, THIS one." He was a big brave boy at that visit and the drops have cleared it right up! He threw the eye drops in the trash can this morning and when I went to get them and said it was time for his eye medicine he said "Nope, we don't have eye medicine anymore!! All done eye medicine."

BOYS NIGHT...Happy Father's Day!

For Father's Day, Owen gave Daddy a Boys Night...camping gear! I set it all up and they had a camp out in the back yard. It was so cute!!! I had so much fun getting it ready and they had a great father/son night. Now they didn't last too long because it's SO HOT but there will be many more back-yard camp out's to come. I love that Baker and Owen are best friends! (NOTE Liza Baker had a great gift for daddy too..some cool new shorts and some other great gifts:)

The Wrath of 80's Prom

The pics say it all....

Blessed

I am taking a minute to stop and thank God for my family and for good health. Yes, we have had a rough week with sick kids and other minor things but it's nothing compared to the hard times that others that we know and even people we don't know have gone through. I am so blessed to have such a great family and such wonderful friends.
